THE BOLT: From a New Gen Z Media Brand to the Exit of a Fashion Icon — these are June's Top Hits ⚡️

March marketing news, marketing stories, brand campaigns, and brand launches top hits

A Sunnie Disposition ☀️

Reese Witherspoon just dropped Sunnie, a new Gen Z media brand on a mission to help young women shine. She took center stage at Cannes Lions alongside Sunnie’s founding partner, e.l.f. Beauty, to unveil a space designed to inspire the next generation of leaders, founders, and creatives.

It’s a place for Gen Z women to feel seen. Why’s it going to work? Sunnie is meeting these girls exactly where they are—online, overwhelmed with opportunity, and bursting with potential. It’s a bright spot in the middle of a doomscroll, built for a generation that’s grown up digital-first. And it’s a powerful reminder: when we invest in our community, we’re building platforms that amplify the voices and stories that need to be heard.

"It’s all about exploring creativity, pursuing what lights you up, and showing up as your full, unapologetic self" - Reese Witherspoon

Canva is Cropping in with Some Clever Creative

Canva transformed London's busiest train station with a design takeover. Turning creative pain points into relatable headlines, we feel so seen. For its first major brand campaign in the UK, they made a splash across the pond with 14 witty billboards that brought their tools to life. Think a “make the logo bigger” ad that literally bursts out of the frame, and a “background remover” that peels away the wall behind it.

This playful campaign hit home for us creatives. Canva knows its tools, knows its audience, and knows how to turn everyday frustrations into moments of joy.

Instagram 🤝 Google Search

Announced this month, Instagram posts will begin showing directly in Google search results. A feature that will be rolling out on July 10th. What does this mean for us, digital marketers? Now more than ever, optimizing your captions and keywords will be of the utmost importance for SEO. This is a new opportunity for brands to increase visibility and traffic to their accounts. Social is used for search and discovery now more than ever, and this is just another step in that direction.

Out of Vogue

After 37 years, Anna Wintour is stepping down as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, marking a major shift in the fashion industry. Wintour’s influence extended far past runways and magazine pages. She built a brand. Beyond the signature bob and oversized sunglasses, it was her leadership, vision, and eye for emerging talent that transformed Vogue into a cultural compass. Wintour wasn’t just a tastemaker; she was a master marketer.

For marketers and business leaders, her time at Vogue is a masterclass in consistency and credibility. Year after year, she put her taste and vision on the line to shape the global conversation around fashion and kept Vogue at the forefront of culture, creativity, and commerce. That consistency is what earned her the trust of both the industry and the public. The takeaway: Trends come and trends go. Brands that last know exactly who they are.
