When it comes to your big day there are so many intricate details and choices to be made to create the beautiful experience of your dreams and it can all feel very overwhelming. Planning your nuptials can be a lot of work and stress, not to mention the cost and often lack of use of wedding items after tying the knot. A local company here in Austin helps couples realize their vision without the hassle and with all of the love — Loot Rentals.
It all started nine years ago on craigslist by sisters-in-law Rhoda and Anna while preparing for Anna’s own wedding, Loot quickly grew and is now Texas' largest event staging and design rental company, serving the communities of Austin, Fort Worth, Houston and more. Whereas most wedding companies’ products can be on the expensive and less practical side, they aim to deliver unique pieces to help you express your unique love, as well as to help reduce the massive carbon footprint of the multi-billion dollar wedding industry through renting not buying.
Loot has dedicated Valentine’s day to gifting fifteen lucky couples with a completely free wedding experience through their day of Free Love event. They started the romantic tradition in 2018 and since then it's been a smashing hit. The 2020 pop-up at Distribution Hall included free weddings, vow renewals, and civil ceremonies. The event also included an officiant, flowers, decor, and refreshments, with each ceremony lasting thirty minutes. Loot partnered with other Austin companies like Feather & Twine Photography, Contigo Catering, Drinkslingers, Quest Events, Bricolage Curated Florals, and Distribution Hall; to make all of these wedding day dreams come true.
This year, there were so many special moments, but one of the ceremonies in particular was a real surprise. Loot's CEO, Rhoda was surprised by her husband Matt with a vow renewal. To keep it under wraps, the Loot team used phony names to hold the spot and when the time came, everyone gathered around to celebrate Rhoda and Matt. When Rhoda and Matt were married years ago, time was of the essence as he was in the Navy. Rhoda’s has always believed that a wedding doesn’t have to have a high price tag to be special, but theirs was planned so quickly that Matt’s parents couldn’t attend. They made it this time, along with their kids and most of the loot team.
Loot Rentals’ focus is to curate inspirational spaces through great design; cultivating deeper connections to self, community, and home encouraging you to live your best life... and they've got the credentials to back it up. Loot was a finalist for Woman’s Way Business of the Year in 2018 and voted Best Rental Company 2019 at Austin’s Event Industry Awards. They’ve also been published in several notable blogs, magazines, and books in the wedding and events community such as Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Living, Southern Weddings, Mingle, Past Present: Living with Heirlooms and Antiques, Magnolia Rouge Lifestyle, and Camille Styles Entertaining: Inspired Gatherings and Effortless Style.
We look forward to Valentine’s day every year, and it’s companies like Loot Rentals and their incredible Free Love event that makes this day and the city of Austin so special.
